Upstairs in Hootananny's is Mad Hatters which has more rock-type bands than the folky nonsense downstairs and attracts a much younger audience.

This place gets pretty busy but the quality of music can vary wildly and will determine whether you stay or leave. There is a tendency to have loud pub/dad rock more often than not which can test any sane person's patience. If the band is good however, this place is as good as you'll get.

There's also the option of the sofa's on the very top floor "Bothy Sofa Bar" (which used to be ace if you could snatch the jukebox away from rich emo kids).
